College of Sharia and Law

The Faculty of Sharia and Law is one of the colleges at the University of Jeddah that focuses on Islamic and legal sciences.

It was established as a result of the merger of the College of the Holy Quran and Islamic Studies and the College of Law and Judicial Studies. The law specialization was previously taught in the Law Department, which was part of the College of Business at the university since its inception.

As it represents one of the independent and self-contained social science disciplines despite its natural connection to other sciences and given the community's and the Kingdom's need for an extensive study of this discipline, it was envisioned that this department should become an independent college. Meanwhile, the religious disciplines were taught at the College of the Holy Quran and Islamic Studies. Due to the close relationship between Sharia and law, considering that Sharia is the primary source of legislation in the Kingdom, it was decided to merge the two colleges into one college named the College of Sharia and Law.

College Objectives:

  1.  To provide opportunities for academic study and contribute to the provision of specialized human resources in the fields of Sharia and legal sciences.
  2.  To develop and instill religious, ethical, and national values within the community.
  3.  To encourage specialized scientific research and strive to hold conferences, seminars, and workshops both within and outside the college to enhance scientific research and develop the capabilities of faculty members.
  4.  To develop academic and scientific partnerships domestically and internationally, and to work on exchanging experiences, practices, and research, as well as collaborating to achieve sustainable academic development.
  5.  Communicating with civil society institutions to promote legal and Sharia culture, and participating in meeting needs through the college's qualitative capabilities.
  6.  Providing consultations, studies, and services related to Sharia and legal sciences to government agencies, institutions, and private sectors
